Verstappen crumpled to the pole in Silverstone Bottas car froze

The 10th qualifying session of the Formula 1 season was run at the pace of Max Verstappen at the Silverstone motor track.

The overwhelming leader of the World Series, the Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was, as expected, the fastest of qualifying sessions at Silverstone. The Dutchman cemented his pole position with the last push of the final section with a time of 1:26.720. The pole position was Verstappen’s fifth in a row at the British GP and seventh this season.

The speeds of the McLarens were almost sensational on Saturday, as the team’s drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri took the second and third places in qualifying with times of 1.26.961 and 1.27.092. The British rider Norris, who was even on the pole for a while, is tenth in the World Championship points, Piastri can’t even fit in the top ten.

McLaren’s upgrade parts have brought additional speed to the British team. According to Autosport, McLaren was last in the front row of the British GP in 2008, when Heikki Kovalainen throttled to the top spot.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. were in fourth and fifth place. The Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were next.

of Williams Alexander Albon valahti finished eighth in the last moments of qualifying with a time of 1:27.530.

Dramatic opening section, Bottas’ car froze

Dramatic moments were seen in the first section and at the end, when the track dried out significantly and every driver improved his time within a couple of minutes.

Alfa Romeo Valtteri Bottas gassed up in the opening section at the last moment to finish 11th, but right after that the Finn’s car had technical problems and his Alfa Romeo froze on the side of the track.

Bottas would have qualified for the second section, but he was unable to continue qualifying, so he eventually finished 15th.

– I doubted a little that the fuel ran out or what happened to it. The car didn’t have any problems before, suddenly the power went out. It’s a shame, when the last lap was pretty good and the pace was ok, Bottas told V Sport.

Top team Red Bull Sergio Perezwho is second in the World Championship points, continued his poor qualifying performances, embarrassingly remaining in the first section and only in 16th place. Bottas’ teammate Zhou Guanyu was 18
