Vermintide 2 now free on Steam? The short check

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free on Steam for a limited time. If you get it now, you can even keep it permanently. Find out with MeinMMO if the game is worth it for you.

What kind of game is this? Warhammer: Vermintide 2 takes place in the famous Warhammer Fantasy universe, which is considered the great model for the entire Warcraft saga. In a perfect world, we would actually be playing World of Warhammer today.

In Vermintide 2 you slip into the role of one of 5 different heroes and face proverbial floods of enemies in various missions. In co-op with up to 4 players, you use swords, arrows and magic to slice your way through rat-like Skaven, corrupt followers of the nasty Chaos Gods and wild beastmen.

Why is it relevant right now? The developers are giving away Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on Steam right now. The game is up with 87% positive votes lately. The promotion made the game so popular that Vermintide 2 became the top trending game on Steam and now has over 104,000 players (via steamcharts).

If you add it to your library by November 7, 7:00 p.m. German time, you can keep it permanently. So you only have a few hours left to secure the game.

Checklist: Should I play Vermintide 2?

For a quick overview we have included a short checklist for you. We have prepared 11 statements for you and if you answer “yes” to at least 7 of them, you can download Vermintide 2. Further information and tips can be found below in the text.

  • I like fantasy worlds where things can get rough at times.
  • Warhammer and Warcraft have always interested me.
  • I like to play with friends in PvE against computer opponents.
  • Wading through the blood of literally hundreds of enemies makes me feel good.
  • It’s important to me to be able to try out a wide range of different playstyles.
  • I’m into character progression, loot and roguelite games.
  • For me, games need a low beginner difficulty, but also a big, optional challenge.
  • I really liked the gameplay of games like Left 4 Dead.
  • Dark humor and pointed taunts between heroes are important details for me.
  • I HATE RATS! So right!
  • The Emperor is a damn cool sock and anyone who sees it differently is a heretic. (a “yes” here is basically enough for a download)
  • Incidentally, right now is the ideal time to start with Vermintide 2, because recently there was the Warhammer game with almost all DLCs for less than 20 euros. You are sure to find many new players at your level or have friends who are also just starting out. If you like the game, there will definitely be deals again in the future with which you can secure the DLCs.

By the way, MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus has already put a lot more hours into Vermintide 2 than he should:

I played a game I should hate for 120 hours

  • a DLC class for Sienna is still missing
  • In our big guide to the classes of Vermintide 2 we explain in detail how to play the characters. It is up to you who you choose. You can simply share and take over or craft a large part of the equipment anyway, so leveling should be quick.

If you’re more into futuristic settings, you should keep an eye on Warhammer 40k: Darktide. Warhammer’s sci-fi setting throws you into the future, delivering similar gameplay with a slightly different twist:
