Verdict goes against Nesser – could get jail time

Håkan Nesser has been charged with three cases of serious tax crime after not reporting dividends and income from a foreign-registered company between 2013 and 2015.

Nesser has previously told TT that he considers the prosecution to be “incomprehensible” and that it is about income that he had when he lived abroad. But he also stated that his economic-legal representative made “a mistake”.

Håkan Nesser has denied wrongdoing and said that the distributions were made on the advice of his financial advisor. He is charged with several cases of aiding and abetting serious tax crimes. The prosecutor has requested a three-year prison sentence for the adviser, who also denies any crime.

Håkan Nesser has had great success with his books about Detective Inspector Van Veeteren, which have been translated into around thirty languages. Nesser has also written novels such as “Kim Novak never bathed in the Sea of Galilee” and “And Piccadilly Circus is not in Kumla”, both of which have been made into films.
