This week, the first trailer for director Kelly Marcel’s Venom: The Last Dance was released, which completes the Spider-Man villain trilogy. Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock – so far so good – but the presence of another MCU actor causes ultimate Marvel confusion.
More specifically: What does actor Rhys Ifans in the Venom 3 preview to search?
Will another Spider-Man villain return in Venom: The Last Dance?
Rhys Ifans plays Otto Hohenturm in the GoT prequel House of the Dragon and is also known from the Marvel screen. Since The Amazing Spider-Man he has been involved as Dr. Curt Conners, who in the course of the story transformed into the villainous Lizard. Of course, he wants to get his hands on the friendly neighborhood spider – at least until the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Peter (Tom Holland) cures him of his cold-blooded villainy. (The Lizard only appeared as a CGI character in the film, without Ifans’ involvement.)

Rhys Ifans in the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance
Is that why we see the Lizard Man completely converted, with two arms and a hippie look in the trailer for Venom 3? Or is Ifans playing a completely new character? Fans are confused. On X There are two theories circulating: In one, Ifans’ scene is part of a flashback, in the other it shows Connors after he has left the Lizard behind.
