Venices main canal was dyed a wrapper green EPN

The reasons for the discoloration of the city’s main canal are not yet known.

The Venice police in Italy have started investigations, the purpose of which is to find out why the water of the city’s most important internal waterway, the Canal Grande, turned neon green on Sunday.

According to the police, the color could be the work of environmentalists. In 1968, an Argentinian artist Nicolas Garcia Uriburu dyed the water of the same canal green to draw attention to the state of the environment.

The fire department and the city’s environmental agency have alerted the police by taking samples of the water for investigations.

The greening of the canal was first noticed by local residents.
