(Telestock) – Nicolas Maduro reconfirmed as president of Venezuela. The National Electoral Council announced that, with 80% of the ballots counted, the outgoing president “obtained 5,150,092 votes, or 51.2%, while his direct opponent, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia 4,445,978, or 44.02%”, with a voter turnout of 59%, but also “delays” due to “an attack on the system”.
But the opposition denounces irregularities and claims to have won with 70%,’ while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed doubts about the progress of the election.
And even the Italian Foreign Minister Tajani said he had “many doubts on the regular conduct of elections in Venezuela” asking for “verifiable results and access to documents”.
