Jesse Joronen guarded Venezia with a goal as the team progressed to the final stage in the promotion qualifiers.
Joel Pohjanpalon and Jesse Joronen represented by Venezia cleared their way to the finals in the promotion qualifiers of Serie A. Venezia beat Palermo 2–1 at home and took the two-part semi-final series 3–1 on aggregate.
In Friday night’s match, both of Venezia’s goals came in the first half. He was responsible for the opening goal Tanner Tessmann and from another Antonio Candela.
Jesse Joronen, well-known from Huuhkaj, guarded Venezia’s goal. Joel Pohjanpalo, who won Serie B’s goal crown, played almost 70 minutes in the match. He was traded to Marco Olivier.
The winner of the promotion qualifying final advances to Seria A for the coming season. Venezia’s final opponent will be determined on Saturday in the semi-final match between Catanzaro and Cremonese. The first part ended 2–2.
The 29-year-old Pohjanpalo was a real goal catcher in Serie B. He scored no less than 22 goals, while second in the goal exchange Gennaro Tutino hit the goal posts 19 times. Pohjanpalo is the first Finn to win the goal exchange of that series.
In the case of Pohjanpalo, we cannot talk about any single peak season, because in the 2022–2023 season he scored 19 hits in Serie B.
