Venezia FC, represented by goalkeeper Jesse Jorose and striker Joel Pohjanpalo, has secured promotion to Italy’s main league, Serie A.

Keeper Jesse Joronen and the attacker Joel Pohjanpalon represented by Venezia FC sealed their promotion by beating Cremonese 1-0 in front of the home crowd on Sunday evening.

Even a draw would have been enough for Venezia in the promotion match, because it was ahead of Cremonese in the league table. The opening match between the teams had ended goalless.

Venezia scored the 1–0 goal Chris Gytkjaer. They scored a goal in the 24th minute of the preliminary work Gianluca Busio and partly also Pohjanpalo, who violently pushed the defense throughout the 90 minutes.

Venezia goalkeeper Joronen was one of the heroes of the two-part qualifying final. He kept Cremonese’s goal in both matches and blocked a total of 18 goal attempts made by the opponent towards the goal.

Also on Sunday, Joronen was more busy than the goalkeepers, as Cremonese won the scoring attempts 13–5 and the shots on goal 7–3.

Venezia last played in Serie A in the 2021-2022 season. Earlier, Parma and Como had claimed their places for next season in Serie A.

Pohjanpalo won Serie B’s goalscoring record with 22 full hits.
