Elgin OPP officers and the area highway safety division responded to the single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Mill Road in the early morning hours of Jan. 2, police said Tuesday.

Police located the driver and found a large amount of Canadian money, multiple cellphones and several unmarked containers of different prescription drugs.

The man is charged with careless driving, failing to comply with a release order, possession of property obtained by crime under $ 5,000 and three counts of possession of illicit drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

He is to appear in St. Thomas court.
