Veera and Oona Kaupin’s Thorengruppen came from far behind to win the Swedish cup final. The Kaup sisters played a big role when Thorengruppen got to celebrate on their home field.
Veera and Oona Kauppi got to celebrate the floorball cup championship in Sweden on Sunday. Thorengruppen of the Kaup sisters rose from a 2–6 loss position to a 7–6 victory against Pixbo in Umeå in front of 2,000 spectators.
Veera Kauppi scored 1+4 and was about to score the last three goals. Oona Kauppi did a hat trick for Thorengruppen.
Before the final, Thorengruppen had won all 20 of their matches in the Swedish Superliga.
– We have an incredibly great winning mentality and a lot of will, having scored the winning goal Jonna Stenvall glowed according to SVT.
Stenvall scored the winning goal in 56:46. He thanked Veera Kaupp for the winning goal.
– I haven’t been the scorer of the winning goal, but Veera Kauppi made me a pretty nice pass, Stenvall said.
Oona Kauppi was also the architect of the rise. He scored two goals against Stenvall in the final set. Kauppi scored 5–6 and 6–6 in just 31 seconds in the middle of the final set.
After the final buzzer, Thorengruppen’s fans rushed onto the field to celebrate the cup championship. Thorengruppen coach Daniel Jernberg said that playing the final on home ground was special.
– Unbelievably fun. So few have the chance, Jernberg described on the website of the Swedish Floorball Association.
– Especially now (it’s fun), when there are so many people and in this atmosphere we were able to turn the game around. I would have felt different if we had lost, but regardless, it was great to play.
