Kats is currently mayor of Veenendaal. This is his first term and it ends on 10 January 2025. The municipal council will soon send the recommendation to King’s Commissioner Hans Oosters. He will in turn send his advice to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Judith Uitermark. She is preparing the Royal Decree for the reappointment.
