Vännäs wants to attract women to the part-time workforce: “You don’t have to be the big strong guy”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

On Sunday, a girls’ night was organized to attract female part-time firefighters to Vännäs. There, women had the chance to try out the profession of firefighter – among other things by trying to handle a hose and a crawler.

– We want to try to de-dramatize the profession. You don’t have to be that big, strong testosterone guy to handle it, says Maria Strinnholm, force leader and part-time firefighter in Vännäs.

One of the curious people who came by was Emelie Högbom from Vännäsby, who is thinking about becoming a part-time firefighter.

– I feel like I want to check this out to see if I can give something back to society.
