The 26-year-old Van de Zandschulp is the first Dutch man in almost six years in a final of an ATP tournament. In 2016 Robin Haase lost in Gstaad in the final battle to Feliciano López from Spain. In October of last year, Van de Zandschulp did not get further than the semi-finals at an ATP tournament.
