In the first set, Van de Zandschulp immediately broke his opponent. He then had a lot of trouble winning his own serve, but still succeeded. He won the set 6-3. Van de Zandschulp increasingly faced a break point in the second set and at 4-3 Van Assche managed to use one. He then served out the set.
