Sauber boss Mattia Binotto said that a multi-year extension contract will be signed for Valtteri Bottas, and it will be ready by the end of the season.
Sauber’s Finnish driver has been vexed for months in Formula 1 Valtteri Bottas contract situation.
The 35-year-old from Nasto still has no certainty about his future. Sauber’s second driver next season will definitely be German Nico Hulkenbergwhose contract is multi-year.
Bottas has assured the public one race weekend after another that an agreement is coming. However, he has emphasized that he would not like a one-year contract, because next season Sauber is still in quite a transitional state. From the 2026 season, the team will change to Audi.
Before this weekend’s US GP, Bottas was already frustrated, wrote the Swiss newspaper Blick.
– Unfortunately, I can’t do anything. It’s not in my hands. The conditions have been set from my side. I can only wait for the green light, Bottas stated according to Blick.
Bottas emphasized that he thinks he belongs to Audi’s controls with his experience. He also pointed out that it would be Tallink’s advantage.
– A month ago it was said that the decision would be made as soon as possible. Now I have to set a deadline for the stable. Christmas is coming soon and if I have to look for another job there aren’t many places left.
Now both Bottas and the ex-Ferrari boss hired to lead the Audi project to the team Mattia Binotto have commented on the situation Viaplay.
Bottas said again that he has made it clear that he is not interested in a one-year contract. He wants a longer project and clear goals so that there is enough motivation.
– That you try to stay in F1 for one year, so is there any passion in it?
– However, I have my own conditions. I don’t just follow other people’s tunes here, but I also have to have my own goals and objectives. That’s always the most important thing.
Binotto said in his own speech that they are still talking about a contract of several years with Bottas.
– We are building the team with the future in mind, so it wouldn’t make sense to do a one-year extension, Binotto said.
– The contracts should be completed quite soon. It would also be important for drivers to know where they are going.
Binotto said decisions will be made by the end of November, with the final deadline being the end of the season.
The season ends in Abu Dhabi on December 8.
This Sunday, the US GP will be held at the Austin track. The race starts at 10 p.m.
