Valtteri Bottas reached the last section in the qualifying session in Las Vegas. Ferrari’s speed was overwhelming.
Valtteri Bottas drove eighth in the Formula One qualifying sessions in Las Vegas.
Bottas left his former teammate behind in the second section Lewis Hamilton that by Sergio Perez. In the last section, he left his only attempt until the end of the section and missed almost eight tenths of the top.
However, Bottas is seventh on the starting grid, having driven second Carlos Sainz got a ten frame penalty for changing the power source. Sainz’s car had a hard time in the first practice when he drove into a detached pit cover.
The fastest driver in the time trial was from Ferrari Charles Leclercwho stopped the clock at 1:32.726. Max Verstappen left no less than 0.378 seconds from the Monaco.
The time trial was very atypical for formula one, as the drivers were able to drive several fast laps with the same set of tires, especially in the early stages. Often on F1 tracks, the best qualifying result is obtained with fresh tires.
