Vaccine against Lyme disease is being tested

A study is now testing something that could become the first approved vaccine against the tick-borne disease, writes Science Radio.

The study includes 15,000 people from, among other places, Sweden, Germany and North America who recently received their third vaccine dose.

600 of these are Swedes who now, ahead of the Swedish summer, can hope to have protection against all types of the disease, something that had previously been a problem.

If the vaccine is approved, it can hopefully hit the market in 2026, says Johan Sanmartin Berglund, professor at Blekinge University of Technology and test leader in Sweden to Vetenskapsradion.
