Vaasa Palloseura is aiming for a Veikkausliiga winning streak record tonight – against FC Inter at home

Vaasa Palloseura is aiming for a Veikkausliiga winning streak record

VPS will set a Veikkausliiga winning streak record if they beat Turku’s FC Inter at home today. All the teams that have won their previous 12 matches have also experienced the force of the negative cycle.

The Vaasa Palloseura (VPS) has done an incredible job in the football Veikkausliiga since the end of June.

That was the last time the team lost.

Now Vepsu has a 12-game winning streak behind it, which has also lifted the team to the championship league and third in the standings.

Today, Friday, the people of Vaasa will face FC Inter, the sixth in the series, at Hietalahti’s home stadium.

A win over the team from Turku would also bring Vepsu a Veikkausliiga winning streak record.

The last one in the Veikkausliiga is still in June

Vaasa Palloseura’s season has not only had a positive cycle but also a long losing streak.

The first 12 matches brought only 6 points and the team was still last in the Veikkausliiga at the end of June.

Even good games did not bring the needed goals and results.

– Undoubtedly, it also fell on deaf ears, but now it has turned completely the other way, says the VPS captain Sebastian Strandvall.

Strandvall states that goals have now been scored with a very good percentage from good positions.

– Now there is a very relaxed feeling in the team and between all the ears.

According to Strandvall, the team still knows that all games and teams in the championship series are of high quality and consistent.

Still, the team does not aim for special miracles in the future, but intends to rely on the same way it has progressed successfully until now.

According to Strandvall, the only thing that VPS can influence are its own games.

The second smallest budget in the league

The value of Vaasa Palloseura’s winning streak is further enhanced by the second smallest player budget in the entire league.

Now, though, the public has found games.

– This shouldn’t even be practically possible, and no matter how the rest of the games go, we’ve performed really well, says Sebastian Strandvall.

But, hunger grows when eating:

– Now we have to try to chase that medal. And the brighter it is, the better.

VPS’s placement in the medal positions of the championship series may be confirmed this week if VPS beats Inter and the nearest threat, Seinäjoki Football Club, remains scoreless in its own match on Sunday as a guest of Kuopio Palloseura.

In total, there are only three games left on the VPS.

The two best teams in the championship series will participate in next summer’s Europele. Third place doesn’t guarantee a place right away, but it also gives you a chance to qualify.

What could be a better crown for the team’s 100th anniversary than next summer’s possible Europel in the hometown.
