Recently, TV4’s Kalla Fakta revealed that the Moderates, the Social Democrats, the Sweden Democrats, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals were prepared to circumvent the law on party funding in order to receive anonymous donations. The parties themselves proposed different arrangements to the businessmen the program hired to contact the parties.
Notifies the parties
Now V has reported the five parties to the Chamber of Commerce and requested a complete audit of the parties’ income ever since the law came into force in 2018. Such an audit could end with the parties having to pay a fine.
Nooshi Dadgostar suspects that it was not the first time that the parties discussed how to circumvent the law.
“The important thing is that we get clarity on exactly which companies have contributed money to the various parties, and which decisions have been made subsequently, so that the voters also get to know it,” says Nooshi Dadgostar.
— We want to know if there are patterns in this. Therefore, a complete revision is needed.
Want to tighten the law
According to the law, the parties must report all contributions made by private individuals or companies. A donor may be anonymous if the amount does not exceed half the base amount, today SEK 24,150.
The Left Party also proposes three tightening of the current law: that the ban on receiving secret donations via the bulva be clarified, to review how to stop organizations and foundations linked to parties being used as loopholes, and that it becomes prohibited to prepare to receive a secret gift by suggesting different schemes.
