V presents its budget motion under the slogan “Climate, welfare and growth”. The party proposes a welfare recovery aid of SEK 20 billion.
– The most important thing is to bring about a paradigm shift in Sweden, says Nooshi Dadgostar.
Want to ditch Rut
According to the V leader, this means that one would have to catch up after 14 years of cuts.
– A new red-green government needs to ensure that welfare can recover after many, many years of cuts.
The Left Party rejects 30 billion of the government’s tax cuts. Among the V proposals are reintroduced tax on plastic bags and no to further reduced tax on petrol and diesel. The Rut deduction is to be scrapped, as is the new employment tax deduction.
On top of that, they also want to raise the tax for high income earners. On the other hand, the tax must be reduced for the sick and unemployed and the income pension supplement increased by roughly SEK 300 a month.
– All in all, we are raising taxes by NOK 60 billion this year. No one who earns less than 45,000 a month gets higher taxes, says Ida Gabrielsson (V), economic policy spokesperson.
In total, the Left Party’s budget is 130 billion larger than the government’s. One difference, apart from tax increases and other priorities, is that V believes that the state should borrow for large climate investments.
Abolished qualifying deduction
The Left Party wants to increase the child allowance by SEK 400 a month and continue to abolish the retirement allowance. The party also proposes an increase in unemployment insurance, health insurance, parental insurance and an increased housing allowance.
In addition, V wants to invest SEK 3 billion in a green restructuring of the labor market and equip the employment agency and labor market policy with SEK 2 billion – where, among other things, 1,200 new employment agents are to be hired.
– For a long time we have had an employment agency that does not work, says Nooshi Dadgostar.
