Wim Voogd of OKRA landscape architects believes that with the Catharijnesingel, Utrecht shows what the impact on a city can be if the car is no longer given priority. “Utrecht makes the difference by not only talking about car-free and walkable cities, but also doing this concretely. Think of space for greenery, climate adaptation, heritage, recreation, biodiversity and social inclusion. The public space in the city works in the same way connecting people and opinions.”
