Utrecht tackles nuisance on the water a maximum of thirteen

In the summer, overcrowded boats, often with drunk young people, cause a lot of nuisance. The municipality received several reports of noise pollution, dangerous situations on the water and disruption for other holidaymakers and residents along the canals. According to the municipality, the boats often come from other cities and sometimes have dozens of people on board. Many of these boats did not have an operating permit and did not meet the safety requirements that apply to commercial passenger shipping.
