Utrecht scientists make important antibiotic discovery Now testing on animals

Teixobactin appears to attack the bacteria in a different way than other antibiotics do. The researchers speak of “a unique murder strategy”. The discovery of this mechanism is an important step, says researcher Maik Derks of Utrecht University. “Now it can be tested on animals and then on humans. That will take at least 5, maybe 10 years, I estimate.”
