Utrecht politicians: ‘Police must stop unnecessary use of bicycle paths on their way to the office’

Utrecht politicians Police must stop unnecessary use of bicycle paths

It has been noticed for some time that the Catharijnekade is regularly used by police cars on their way to the Paardenveld office. The first part of that quay is a cycle path, and is exclusively intended for non-motorized traffic, mopeds are not welcome either. The Catharijnekade runs from the Vredenburg to the back entrance of the police station. For the police, the route over the bike path is a lot shorter than the official route, and the officers also avoid a number of traffic lights. The police cars that use the cycle path either pass under Hoog Catharijne over the Catherijnesingel or from the center over the Vredenburg.
