The number of homeless people in Utrecht is rising rapidly. In order to give everyone a place during the cold days, the municipality had to scale up. There was not enough space at the old location near the Stadsbrug to accommodate everyone. That is why a new shelter is now being opened. “We expect to be able to cope with the increase with a maximum capacity of 175 beds,” the municipality said in a council letter.
