HOUTEN – In many Utrecht municipalities, the war in Ukraine is being commemorated today. The hashtag #CitieswithUkraine is also used today to show solidarity with the Ukrainians.

Town Hall open

In Nieuwegein, the town hall is open to people who want to reflect on the war. A minute of silence will be held in Houten around 11:30 am. People who come to Het Rond are asked to wear something in the colors yellow and blue. The Ukrainian flag was raised in Baarn and Montfoort.

“We are also very touched by the situation in Ukraine in our municipality. We deeply sympathize with the people in the war zone and all those who are displaced. Since Friday 4 March, we have been hoisting the blue/yellow flag of Ukraine every day on the square at the Huis van Montfoort. With this we express our moral support for the inhabitants of Ukraine,” says Mayor Petra van Hartskamp van Montfoort.
