UTRECHT – The library in Utrecht is in financial difficulties. The rising energy and maintenance prices and necessary investments in ICT and innovation, among other things, will cause an annual financial deficit of 1.5 million euros in the future, if nothing changes in policy. “In the coming months, the library will discuss with the municipality how this problem can be solved,” says director Deirdre Carasso.
