The mayor can impose such an area ban on people who have disturbed public order. A reporting obligation could also be attached to this, to ensure that someone does not enter the prohibited area, for example at a football stadium when a match is being played there. Currently, people with a reporting obligation still have to physically report to a police station, but in practice this is rarely imposed. It is considered a severe measure, which is sometimes disproportionate to the offense. It also costs the necessary police capacity.
