Utrecht is a relatively safe cycling province, but not everywhere

Cycling paths still too narrow for students

Five provinces are doing better than Utrecht, namely Drenthe (4.7 bicycle crashes per ten thousand inhabitants), Zeeland (5.1), Flevoland (5.4), Friesland (5.5) and Limburg (6.7). Nevertheless, the number of cycling accidents in Utrecht is striking given how densely populated the province is. South Holland is the most unsafe province for cyclists with 12.1 cycling crashes per thousand inhabitants, followed by North Holland (9.9).
