Utrecht in appeal against ruling on anti-abortion demonstration: ‘It chafes and pinches’

Judge Anti abortion protesters in Utrecht wrongly sent to another place

“I will appeal against this ruling to the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State. I will not only consider the right to demonstrate, but also the (fundamental) rights of vulnerable women who must be able to visit the clinic in freedom and undisturbed. Mayor Dijksma wrote in a letter to the Utrecht city council. “I attach great importance to the fundamental right to demonstrate. In Utrecht we facilitate all kinds of demonstrations, even if they take place in the vicinity of the abortion clinic. But I do see that these demonstrations chafe and pinch. The impact that demonstrations have there visitors to the clinic cannot be compared with other demonstrations, especially because these demonstrations are not so much about general public expression, but are personally addressed to women who visit the clinic.”
