Utrecht does not wait for cabinet and gives living money to Ukrainians: ‘They need it now’

Utrecht does not wait for cabinet and gives living money

Ukrainians do not have to apply for asylum to stay in the Netherlands because they can travel to the Netherlands without a visa. They are not, like other refugees, received by the Central Reception Agency for Asylum Seekers (COA), but by municipalities. That is why they do not receive living allowance in the same way. This requires a new regulation. On March 21, the Cabinet sent a letter to the House of Representatives about the intended living allowance scheme for Ukrainians. It is expected to be ready and operational in three weeks.
