In the Shadow of yesteryear is about a young Jewish nurse during World War II. She leaves the regional hospital in the countryside to continue her work in a hospital in the big city. From the very beginning of her journey she gains enormous impressions when she sees the horrific practices that the Dutch SS engages in towards the Jewish population.

The Jewish nurse herself does not wear a Star of David, her mother has forbidden her to do so. As a result, she swims through the meshes of the Nazi trap, so to speak, which makes her feel guilty. And then she suddenly exchanges a glance with an officer of the Dutch SS, played by GTST actor Ferry Doedens. From that moment on, the lives of both will change forever.
