The municipality of Utrecht wants to turn De Uithof into a fully-fledged urban district – four thousand people now live there, mainly students. That number should almost double in the coming years. Earlier this year it became clear that the quality of life at De Uithof is under pressure, partly due to the lack of facilities, such as a supermarket, and there is also no general practitioner.
