Province of Utrecht – Utrecht wants less ornamental lighting in the streets. The city council called for that this week. Festive lighting of bridges, advertising objects, windmills, water towers, works of art, churches and the town hall should be extinguished all winter, according to the council. But it is precisely in the dark months that many people need light. And a street with nice lamps radiates warmth and cosiness. Should all this be at the expense of a lower energy bill, the climate and ‘light pollution’?
