Van der Wiel is confident that things will not go that fast. “We are very good at draining high water in the Netherlands. This goes from the rivers to the sea. In addition, we are well protected by our dikes and dunes to keep the sea at bay for the time being. With a rise of 2.5 meters, the challenges become very large, but with 1 meter it should be possible with many adjustments to protect us.”
