Utrecht alderman whistled back: money for students really should go to students

Utrecht admits mistakes after a resident collected almost a million

The IBB scheme, especially for students, will end on 1 July. So the jar remains well filled. Only half a million euros was paid to the students who therefore objected to the refusal of the energy allowance. Alderman Voortman no longer wants to give the remaining two million euros to students, but to add it to a reserve intended for ‘the working poor, those entitled to social assistance and families in poverty’. That only caused chagrin among various council members, including Berdien van der Wilt (D66). She introduced a motion, which received broad support in the council.
