British doctors warn of worrying health risks when you are used to consulting your phone in the toilet. Explanations.

To watch videos, see the latest Instagram and Facebook posts or even play games… Even if there are plenty of good reasons to check your smartphone when you go to the bathroom, this habit can actually be bad… for the anus. In the English newspaper The Sundoctors explain that it participates in the occurrence of hemorrhoids. “If you’re on the phone you tend to sit on the toilet longer so the pressure increases on the veins from the anus to the rectum” they argue. It is therefore the duration more than the activity itself that is harmful here.

In the toilets, there are also germs everywhere…

It would therefore be better to place the tool outside the part. This would also prevent the transmission of bacteria. “If you take your phone to the bathroom, you risk covering it with germs. In the toilet, there are germs on the seat, the flush button, the roll holder and the door. These germs can include anything from norovirus to salmonella. If your hands are contaminated with viruses or bacteria and you pick up your phone, you transfer your germs and all the others from your hands on the phone. If you then share your phone with someone, then you can share all the germs you picked up with them.” warns Dr. Lisa Ackerley, hygiene specialist.

Hemorrhoids correspond to small blood vessels located in the anus. They can be internal or external. In the first case, they can bleed when passing stools, are accompanied by itching and inflammation of the rectal area. In the second, they are externalized, especially after defecation and even more so when you suffer from constipation.
