However, this feature works in harmony with iPhone 12 and above iPhone models. If you are an iPhone 11 or iPhone X user, this feature unfortunately does not work. If you’re a newer iPhone user, you can authenticate apps or unlock iPhones while using Face ID with a mask. You can follow the steps below to activate the process on your phones. - Your iPhone needs iOS 15.4 or later
- Open Settings, then tap Face ID & Passcode.
- Scroll down the screen and turn on Face ID with Mask.
- When prompted, tap Use Face ID with Mask. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up Face ID using the same face scanning process.

Using Face ID while wearing glasses and masks
- If you wear glasses, you can increase the accuracy of the feature by adjusting the Mask and Face ID with your glasses on. You can do this when you first set up Face ID or later. It is possible to add up to four glasses in Face ID.
- Open the Settings app, then tap Face ID & Passcode.
- Scroll down and tap Add Glasses.
- Tap Continue when prompted, then follow the onscreen instructions.
