We’ll tell you five little details from the World of Warcraft that you probably didn’t know yet.
This article is originally from December 2017. It was updated for Easter 2023.
The World of Warcraft has become quite large in the course of 9 expansions and hardly any player knows all the small details of the game world. Some are even so small or hidden that you will never see them unless you specifically look for them. It would be a shame not to share this knowledge with other players, wouldn’t it?
Today we present to you 5 things from the World of Warcraft that perfectly qualify as “Useless Knowledge”. Have fun with it!
1. Cats – Lazy and cuddly
There are now well over 500 different pets in World of Warcraft. Many of these pets, which can also be used in pet battles, have unique animations or special behaviors.
When it comes to the sheer cuteness factor, though, it’s not the corgis that win, it’s the cats of Azeroth. These have several interaction options with the environment and their owners, which makes them potential candidates for cute and beautiful screenshots.
Did you know that cats sit on your lap? To do this, summon a cat, target it, and use it /sit. After a few seconds, the cat will grope up to the character and sit on their lap!
That being said, cats are incredibly lazy and have a penchant for automatic vacuum cleaners criss-crossing the room. How convenient that these vacuum cleaners are also available in World of Warcraft!
With the toy Stolen Sweeper you can summon such a vacuum cleaner. If you have a cat pet with you, it will immediately jump up and drive around with it. Cats can finally get their own mount!
2. The love of a demon
Warlocks are popular in World of Warcraft simply because they can lead demonic allies into battle. You rarely see a succubus outside of PvP, but some players take the whip-slinger with them in a dungeon – for purely aesthetic reasons, of course.
These sorcerers in particular can be annoyed if you steal the succubus from them. This is very easy: Target the demon and try one /kiss or /to flirt. A heart will immediately appear above your head and that of the succubus.
As a rule, the witcher jealously tries to bring about the effect as well, which then fails: it has a built-in cooldown of almost 30 seconds. This will fuel the Warlock’s frustration even more…
Of course, this also works with the incubus, but you see them a little less often.
3. Sit down and I’ll crit you away!
Especially in PvP battlefields, a time-out is necessary from time to time. Anyone who has pocketed a decent amount of mana buns from the next best mage can take a short meal break after each battle. But carefully! In addition to restoring life and mana, eating comes with a deadly hazard: sitting down.
A character who sits is guaranteed to be critically hit by the next physical attack! No matter whether an ambush by the villain or an execution by the warrior. The next attack will be a 100% critical hit. So if you’re defending a flag point in Arathi, remember: never sit down. The opposing villain would surely take advantage of it.
Rumor has it that there was even another trick: if you were lying on your back, you couldn’t be attacked “from behind”, which was supposed to protect you from an ambush by a villain.
4. “On Fire” – Druids should avoid campfires
For years, druids in World of Warcraft have been told they should be careful in their tree form as Restoration druids. Otherwise they would be sawed up, set on fire, made into a chair or something similar. But did you know that one of these things is actually possible?
Anyone who has learned the craft of cooking can register with just one click Cozy fire set up where players can prepare food or just relax a bit. However, this does not apply to druids in their treant form. As soon as they come into contact with the fire, they will be engulfed by the flames themselves and start smoking! However, this does not have an actual negative effect, it is just an optical gimmick.
Maybe just a little reminder of what happened to the Teldrassil…
5. The nature-loving tauren
Hardly any race in World of Warcraft loves to take care of nature like the tauren. They are essentially peace-loving creatures, only in the mood for war when there is a valid reason for it. Such as when the Earthmother needs to be protected or called upon by a mad warlord named Windrunner.
Otherwise, one encounters tauren mainly in druid circles, as gamekeepers or in regenerative tasks in corrupted surroundings.
But did you know that the connection to nature is right there in the tauren name?
“Tauren” is an anagram of the English word “nature” – so if you swap the order of the letters, you get the new word.
The beauty of it? Now that you know that, you can never forget it…
That was our useless knowledge for this week. Which of these points and details did you already know? Was everything new for you? Or did you know each of these points?
