Use AI against terror and espionage

The security threat to Sweden is increasing.

Now Säpo wants access to AI to stop espionage and terrorism.

– I think that is very reasonable, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) to TT.

The large amount of information on the internet has made it difficult for the Security Police to identify threats to Sweden.

There is already software to automate information management and flag relevant information – but according to Säpo, there is a great need for new tools.

Now they are proposing the use of AI, Artificial Intelligence, to review large amounts of data.

The government has now decided to appoint an investigation, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) to TT.

– Technological development has somewhat outpaced the legislation, he says and continues:

– The security police are calling for more modern legislation that gives them more effective tools to collect and process information and also to prevent terrorist crimes. I think it is very reasonable that we go to meet.

The investigation must be completed by November 15 next year at the latest.
