(Finance) – Decrease less than expected American current account deficit in the 3rd quarter of 2023. The deficit rises to 200.3 billion dollars compared to the previous 216.8 billion (-212.1 billion at first reading).
The data is communicated by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the US Department of Commerce. The market expectations they were for a smaller deficit of 197 billion dollars.
The third quarter deficit amounted to 2.9% of gross domestic product in current dollars, down from 3.2% in the second quarter.
The $16.5 billion reduction in the current account deficit in the third quarter mainly reflects a reduction of the deficit on goods.
