USA, producer prices grow more than expected in July

(Finance) – Data arrives slightly higher than expected by US producer prices in July 2023. According to the US Department of Labor (BLS), producer prices increased by 0.3% on month compared to +0.1% in the previous month. Analysts’ expectations were for growth of 0.2%.

Every year prices recorded an increase of 0.8%, a value lower than consensus (+0.7%), compared to +0.2% in the previous month.

The prices of core goods and servicesi.e. the index excluding the more volatile components such as the food and energy sectors, show a +0.3% month on month (-0.1% the previous month) compared to the +0.2% expected, while on year they recorded a +2.4% after the previous +2.4% (+2.3% expected).
