National and local weather reporting agencies in the US have warned of “once-in-a-generation” severe cold and snow conditions. The National Weather Service (NOAA) has warned those planning to travel for the Christmas holiday, stating that cold weather conditions that have not been experienced in the last 40 years are approaching in some parts of the country.
IT WILL AFFECT ALL STATES OF THE USA
NOAA noted that a major blizzard and cold wave, which is rare enough to be seen “once in a generation”, will affect almost all states of the USA.
The weather service pointed out that “heavy snowfall can make travel very difficult or impossible and be life-threatening,” during the busiest travel plans of the year.
FLIGHTS CANCELED
Due to the approaching bad weather conditions, companies such as United, American and Delta Airlines also announced that they canceled flights to dozens of destinations across the country.
Equivalent to a hurricane
In addition, it was shared that the storm that will occur with the effect of cold weather will be equivalent to the pressure of a Category 3 hurricane in the Great Lakes region of the country on the Canadian border.
According to NOAA’s data, cold weather conditions are predicted to extend to the Texas-Mexico border, while the mid-western part of the country will be most affected by the storm and snowfall that will continue throughout the Christmas week. (AA)
