An attacker broke into US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s private home in San Francisco on Friday morning and assaulted her husband, Paul Pelosi. The attacker is said to have shouted: “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?”, according to sources to the AP news agency and CNN.
Paul Pelosi was severely beaten with a hammer, police said. According to AP’s whistleblower, 82-year-old Paul Pelosi suffered head and body injuries from the assault.
Nancy Pelosi’s office has, in connection with the assault, issued one statement due to the incident.
Suspected of attempted murder
“Early this morning, an attacker broke into Pelosi’s residence in San Francisco and violently attacked Mr. Pelosi. The attacker is in custody and the motive for the attack is being investigated,” the statement reads, among other things, in which it is also written that Nancy Pelosi was not in San Francisco when the attack took place.
Later in the day, the police announced that the arrested person is suspected of, among other things, attempted murder and assault.
The attack was discovered by police officers who came for a control visit to Pelosi’s home. They then witnessed how Paul Pelosi was beaten with a hammer and were able to stop the attack.
