(Finance) – Manufacturing activity worsens in the Chicago area.
In January, thePMI Chicago index it stood at 44.3 points against 45.1 points the previous month. The figure is also lower than the expectations of analysts who were for a more contained drop, or up to 45 points.
It should be remembered that an index level above 50 points indicates an expansion while a level below 50 points indicates a contraction in the US manufacturing sector.
