(Finance) – Manufacturing activity in the Chicago area is improving. In the month of June 2023, thePMI Chicago index stood at 41.5 points against 40.4 points the previous month. However, the figure is lower than analysts’ expectations, which were for a rise of up to 44 points.
It is remembered that an index level above 50 points denotes aexpansion while a level below 50 points indicates a contraction in the US manufacturing sector.
