USA: Inflation is approaching the target

Inflation is falling in the US. In June, it was 3.0 percent according to the CPI measure – just one percentage point short of the central bank’s target of 2 percent.

In a press release, the authority US Bureau of Labor Statistics writes that it is the lowest inflation rate since March 2021.

It was also lower than analysts had predicted. Economists polled by Dow Jones thought on average that inflation would land at 3.1 percent. If you remove food and energy prices, inflation was 4.8 percent.

In May, the CPI was 4.0 percent at an annual rate
