The US welcomes the fact that Turkish President Erdogan has sent the proposal to give the green light for Sweden in NATO to the parliament.

– We have been calling for the ratification of Sweden’s accession for quite some time, answered Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, to a question about Erdogan’s announcement at a press briefing in Washington.

– We look forward to the consideration of the proposal in the parliament and that it can be adopted as soon as possible, said Miller.
