(Finance) – The layoffs in the United States in the month of September 2023. According to the Challenger, Gray & Christmas report, major US companies reported cuts of approximately 47,457 jobs.
The data reveals a drop of 37% compared to previous monthwhen 75,151 layoffs had been recorded and 58% compared to same period of 2022 (29,989 units).
Year to date 604,514 layoffs were recorded (+198% compared to 209,495 in the same period of 2022).
“THE employers are grappling with inflation, rate hikes, labor issues and consumer demand as we enter the fourth quarter,” said Andrew Challenger, labor expert and senior vice president at Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
