(Finance) – The US current account deficit in Q1 2022. The deficit leads to 291.4 billion dollars compared to the previous 224.8 billion (-217.9 billion at first reading). The figure is communicated by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the US Department of Commerce. The market expectations they were for a deficit of $ 273.5 billion.
The first quarter deficit was 4.8% of gross domestic product in current dollars, compared to 3.7% in the fourth quarter 2021. The enlargement of the current account deficit by 66.6 billion reflected mainly an increase in the goods deficit.
The exports in goods and services and the income received from foreign residents increased by $ 25.7 billion to $ 1.03 trillion in the first quarter. The imports of goods and services by and the income paid to foreign residents increased by $ 92.3 billion to $ 1.32 trillion.
